Vacation Bible School
For the first time ever, the churches of Arlington Bridge Builders will work together to host a Vacation Bible School for at-risk kids in our community—kids who would otherwise not have a chance to participate in a VBS. From July 21-25, children and adult volunteers will be exploring the life of Joseph, learning about his heartbreaking trials, God’s amazing provision, and the tear-filled restoration of his family.
Each day will be filled with gospel-centered Bible stories, fun and games, and activities designed to immerse participants in the culture and customs of ancient Egypt. Most importantly, kids and adults will be encouraged to trust God at all times, even in heartache. A memorable Bible point is reinforced daily, to help kids grow in their faith throughout the week. On Day One, participants will learn that God gives us hope, memorizing God’s promise in Jeremiah 20:11, “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ ” That’s a lesson we all need to learn—whether you’re a kid in a vulnerable family who’s anxious about their future, or an adult volunteer who’s facing a personal heartache.
Volunteers are needed to help lead the small groups, crafts, worship, sports, and story times. Can’t serve every day? No problem! We’ve designed the week to include volunteers who can serve for only a day or two. Check out the Vacation Bible School Volunteer Page here. And most importantly, please pray that this week will be a time for all involved to hope in God, who is always and only good.
